I'm Here, But I'm Not

How do I say this. Ok I'll give you one example.

One day I was at one of  fast food outlet which offered free wifi. Well, its the norm now, restaurant with wifis. So while hubby was away to order food, I just looked around and observed the crowds. Most of them are with laptops or netbooks. Right beside me, there's a group of three girls, two with laptop and one with handphone and just arrive with their orders. So masing-masing opened up their laptops and phones while munching away their food and hardly any conversation could be heard. I could see they were on FB..typing while eating. And after they finished their food, they kept their laptops and leaved.

I found this rather 'interesting' and disturbed. I don't know about you, but if I were with friends, I would definitely like to be engaged in some kind of conversation. Not a virtual conversation but the real eye to eye conversation. Well what's the point of meeting someone in person but the conversations are being done in the virtual world?

I know I'm not the one who's addicted to these social networking thingy and that's why I found this situation rather annoying. I have been in a situation where my lunch partner was busy with her hand-phone (on FB) while we were having lunch together. Hey, I'm trying to have a chit chat here, but you are 'busy'. Might as well I lunched on my own rite?

So, now I hope you understand the title of my post.

Smart Parents Richer Kids

Currently I'm hooked on this book..

After reading three chapters, I've realized some of the steps and methods that are mentioned in the book are the ones that I have been through during my growing up years.

For example, my sister and I got rewarded with our dream toys when we achieved good result ( being top 3 in the class). At that time, having a barbie doll was my dream, and yes I got it. But to accessorized the barbie dolls with beautiful clothes did not come into the package. So, we saved our pocket money to get them or we made them from our unused clothes.

We also took great care of our things like watches and school bags because my father sort of imposed the expiry date for those things , well based on his experience. During his time, he used his school bag for six years..so expected us to do the same. Well, for me during my primary time, I remembered using one bag from std 2 until std 6!

So now as parents, I really hope I could follow the same steps that I have been through before. Yes, I admit, looking at children clothes and toys could left me salivating..yeah, me not them! So, its my mind that I need to strengthen with.

Monday's Rambling

We went back to hubby's hometown last weekend. Then we did nothing much, just catching up news with each other and lazed around the house. Naqib had just recovered from his fever and I don't feel like exposing him by taking him out to public.

Last weekend also was the convocation day for my lil sis. This time its her Master's degree, so congrats dear!

Oh dear, I really need to do my facial ASAP. Last weekend, when I managed to 'belek' my face, I realized lots of black heads on my nose! I haven't done any facials since I was pregnant! That's why! So I think I need to book my facial appointment really really soon...huhuhu...so kesian for myself. Nowadays, cleansing and moisturizing are only basic skin care that I care to follow, the other nada! No scrubbing, sometimes toning, no facial mask...etc..on top of that I also need to qada my puasa as soon as possible, which I kept postponing!

AIF

Alhamdulillah, its Friday..

Naqib somehow is getting better from his fever. But yesterday, you gave me a scare by having blood in your mouth after a cough!! Altho it only happens once, but Allah je yang tahu betapa gundah gelananya Mummy..tahan air mata jer time tu..Luckily Tok Abah was around to calm me..if not I think surely you can find Mummy in pyjama running towards hospital's emergency..

Again Alhamdulillah after another check-up with the paed, there's nothing to worry about you. That too, was a scare because the doctor took an-x-ray chest to check for any abnormality and as usual, you had one round of nebulizer.

But then, even you are not very well, you are still the bubbly little boy that loves to play with Mummy's hair and face, jumping on your feet when I hold you and laughing the sweet laugh when Mummy tickled you. That, I'm so thankful. And you even started one skill, BITE!! Even there's no teeth yet, but  your gums are sure hard!! Haiipp!!

Thus, I am not in the mood to write.

Weekend yang capek..I dunno la what makes me that capek..but it did.

Oh, finally managed to watch the movie Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa. Rating? I would give 4/5 if compared to other Malaysian made movies. It could be 5/5 if the Merong guy could speak Malay fluently..hehehe..

Saya Mahu Seminar Percuma Dari Genius Baby On Board

Hehehhe..

Playing with Plasticine aka Clay

Last weekend, we bought Nazif his first set of clay tools. I've been meaning to buy this a long time ago, but keep on holding back..bad me..hehehe...since these cousin now really can play together, I tried to create beneficial activities for them..instead of just those fighting2..ultraman thingy..hehehe. Last time we had water color sessions, this time its clay session. I plan to do a cooking session plak..but have to check what to cook? Depends on the things that we have at my mom's kitchen/my kitchen/sister' kitchen..hehehe..

Nazif and Azeem in action..Kakak Alysa ada, tapi not in the picture.

The benefits of this activity, taken from this website:

Children that are old enough to squeeze your finger can squeeze a piece of soft clay. If they can notice a change in the clay, they are learning that their actions have consequences.  This encourages more experimentation. The child’s brain is taking shape along with the clay.  Such self-initiated activity can be the perfect match for the developmental needs of the child.  Clay stimulates the child’s curiosity. Intelligence, imagination, and creativity are engaged and fostered.  Many new neurons and synapses in the brain are being generated when a child is engaged by the immediate tactile and visual feedback provided by clay.

Of Engagement and Wedding

Last weekend was quite hectic I might say. Its my cousin's engagement on Saturday and another cousin's wedding on Sunday.

So, lets start with Saturday. The day started early, as we had to travel to Sabak Bernam for my cousin's engagement (my father's side). I woke up with panda eyes, due to Naqib's late night antics. He went to sleep at 3.30 a.m. So, of course by the time we went the house at 7.30 a.m, this boy was still sleeping!

Budak busyuk..terus angkat dari katil ke carseat
Abg punya activiti in the car..

The great-grandchildren of Nenek Kalsom --except the girl in orange tudung..itu cucu!
The ceremony took place around noon and we had a scrumptious lunch of kampung style buffet. Congrats to my cousin..(lerr..no picture of the bride-to-be..hehehe)..We started our journey back home late evening.

Then on Sunday, it was another cousin's wedding. This time its my mother's side. Oh no, I really don't know what to write, so just let the picture do the talking!

Anak bujang mummy, hensem tak?
Adik Naqib pun nak hensem jugak!
At the kenduri, makan cendol!

The wedding baby..adik loves attending wedding, sikit pun tak buat aksi..very good boy!

The newlywed
Dancers from Pak Ngah group

Tgh pengantin bersanding..this action took place ..boys will always be boys..hehehe...

Haipp..don't mess with my ayam golek!
Haiyaaa..nak jugak..ini .ultraman!

Nak Update...Tapi

Takde gamba la pulok..mcm tak best kalo xde gambor..

So..I'll just update with this lyrics from Anuar Zain- Sedetik Lebih..which invaded my mind these few days. The English version was called Memory Remains..

SEDETIK LEBIH
Setiap nafas yang dihembus
Setiap degupan jantung
Aku selalu memikirkanmu
Dalam sedar dibuai angan
Dalam tidur dan khayalan
Aku selalu memikirkanmu
Ternyata ku perlukan cinta dari dirimu sayang
Barulah terasa ku bernyawa
Kasihku…ku amat mencintai kamu
Kerana kau beri erti hidup
Ku kan terus mencinta sedetik lebih selepas selamanya
Di kala penuh ketakutan dengan badai kehidupan
Ku bersyukur adanya kamu
Biarlah kehilangan semua yang dimiliki di dunia
Asal masih adanya kamu

My Breastfeeding Journey

I don't think I've ever shared my Breastfeeding story in details after I delivered. Well, that's because I didn't consider myself 'successful' in this journey.

Yeah, I didn't get to BF my son exclusively for the past 6 months. I only managed to exclusive breast feed him for only 16 days. After that, I have to top up with formula, until now. The feeling, at first I was devastated. My son was admitted for jaundice at the hospital and he lost more than 10% of his weight and his weight at that time was 2.31 kg while his birth weight was 2.7 kg! Of course the doctor was alarmed!

Since I was not rooming in with him, I had to send my milk supply. My pumping only produced 0.5 oz and at most 1 oz for one session. Which definitely is not enough for my son. Fortunately, my sister had some  of her  frozen milk left at my mom's, so I topped with that too. When the supply no longer can keep up with demand, the hospital gave him formula.

Even after he was released I tried my best to limit his formula intake, which is to regularly direct feed him. But sadly, it was not enough for him. And to not grant him with formula was not an option because I need to get him to gain back his weight. I was so obsessed with his weight that I'm willing to do anything to achieve that, which to give him formula. I tried to make stocks for after confinement, which I only managed to make around 40 bekas dadih (2-2.5 oz each). And in just a few days, all had been used up.

Until today, I still pumped at the office, 3 times and only sometimes 2 times. The total milk produced usually ranges from 6 to 8 oz. So sikit kan? But for me, ALHAMDULILAH. Whatever being pumped, I will sent to the nursery next day along with formula milk. At least for me, this time around I was much better than during Nazif's time.

Tell me what I didn't do to increase my milk. Pegaga, sawi, lobak putih, longan, dates, Shaklee breastfeeding set, regular pumping, regular feeding, you name it. I've tried them. I tried not to stress too much, fearing stress would further reduced my milk production. So I just let it be just as it is..I can just pray. So yeah, breast feeding is not that sap-sap soi, au naturel..it is a learning process and for those who are mentally strong. I admit, I am not that strong..

* This is all because my longan drink turn sour this morning because I forgot to put them in fridge*

Naqib turns 6 Months

Alhamdullilah, my little prince turns 6 months today! Which means, I can start on his solid feeding! So looking forward to make food puree for him, but for a start, I'll just go with rice cereal first.

As of today, we are still waiting for him to turn over...you really take your own sweet time eh? Which sometimes make me really worried, should I? Even he's on his back, he certainly did not sit still. Using his feet, he would pushed himself as his means to move around.

But if you hold him, he can jump! He now likes to play with my face and he would laugh real hard when I made funny faces. And not to forget, he's the screamer and babbler too. I believed that he called MMMM..mama when ever he cried..

Ok, Mummy really hope you can roll over soon and also hope that you would enjoy your solids as your big brother did. Love you baby!
