Emergency Lane

I don't know about you all, but I 'honor' the name of this one lane--emergency lane.

Meaning, no matter how bad the traffic can be, I will never use this lane. That's why, I'm so pi55ed off with drivers who used this lane for their own sake. Especially to big vehicles like lorries, buses, cranes and etc. The lane is not that big and with those big vehicle they will tend to squeeze themselves and take up other drivers' lane. So uncivilized!!

And another thing, in my usual route, ambulance can be a common sight. And when the emergency lane was occupied, the ambulance had no way but to move very slowly. This has happened a few times, and we had to make our way for the ambulance to go through. (That thing too, ada org ambik kesempatan to follow the ambulance!!). Oh dear, what if someone's life was hanging by the thread and you are the cause of their death.

Pelikla kan..we Malaysian drivers when we go to other countries we can strictly be civilized but in our own land, not!

Obedient Wives Club

I have only come to realize about Malaysia's Obedient Wives Club a few days back. But only the title..at first I thought it was something like Stepford Wives thingy. But walla..it turns out a bit differently and its rather shocking I might say. Its main concern is to teach wives to be submissive to their husbands sexual needs.

Something from the co-founders of the club
"What is wrong with being a whore ... to your husband?"
Wow..what a term to use...they said by being that way, they will keep their husbands happy, which will lead to the protection of family institution and eventually can curb the social ills. Do you agree?

Well marriage is not about sex only. Two mature adults who have taken their vows on marriage must realized, marriage comes with other responsibilities too, besides that.

One thing I agree, has been said by this fellow man:
One Muslim man, Amirul Aftar, wrote: "I do not want a wife to submit to my every beck and call. I want a wife who understands me ... we are not your masters, we are your equal."
Source : Here

Its Green Day, Its Earth Day!!

Image From Google

If you haven't noticed, today is Earth Day! So this is another 'Khidmat Pesanan Masyarakat' post, hehehe..

In my company, we were encourage to wear something GREEN today, and fortunately  I had some greens on my blouse today, hehehe..
Okay, one thing that caught my attention today, on one of the steps you can take towards preserving our Earth is your detergent usage in laundry. This is an excerpt from a Wall Street Journal article,

Seventh Generation's co-founder, Jeffrey Hollender, wonders why more people haven't stumbled upon laundry's big, dirty secret: "You don't even need soap to wash most loads," he says. The agitation of washing machines often does the job on its own.
No soaps? Can you do it? I know this is not common among us. I, myself use detergent because all this while we've got this equation in our head 'To get clean clothes, we must use detergent', right?

So, can we change this mindset of ours?

Friday's Rambling

  • Lately my posting certainly lacks of pictures..sungguh tak meriahkan...I don't know why..even pictures of Nazif pun dah jarang ambik...when I'm on the mood, my son did not cooperate well..he's at the stage whenever he saw me with a camera or my phone to snap pictures, he would be running straight to me! And he the one 'busybody' to click the camera. Then the result of course la tah hape-hape punya gambar daaa...
  •  Tomorrow I'm having another monthly check-up with my obgyn. Can't wait, can't wait!. I really really think..not just my imagination, that I've started to feel those fluttering sensation in my tummy. I THINK I can feel this little muchkin moving already! Its quite early if compared to Nazif, I only started to feel him when I was around 17 weeks.
  • When we asked Nazif about the baby, he would point to himself and said 'Abam' meaning 'Abang', followed with cheeky smiles.. Hehe..he's started to grasp the idea slowly..smart boy Abam!
  •  Tomorrow is Earth Hour 2010! We'll see how it goes..is it better than last year?

Big big Family

Last time when Asterok used to give free trial channel for Discovery Home and Health, I enjoyed watching the channel's program. One of them is about the Duggar family..which at that time I think they already have l6 children..yes read me right, 16. And today in Yahoo! news, i read about their 19th child!! And oh all of their childrens' name start with J.

You can read more about the couple here.

Well, having 19 kids in todays world well I could say its simply miracle! Its not the norm now..if you watched the series, the children were home school and guess what, they even build their home on their own! The older takes care of the younger ( maybe that's why the mother can continue to pop one after another..hehehe). The series also calculated that the mother, more than half of her age was spent in pregnancy period..huh..ponet den dengor..she must be in excellent health for being able to hold up until 19th pregnancy.

I wonder if there'll be the 20th one.

Power Over Cervical Cancer

*This is a public community service*. I found about this while bloghopping at KlubbKidd.

What is the campaign all about?

It is  about to raise awareness to the women in our country of the cervical cancer and help to reduce the rates of the disease. Some quick facts about the cancer, taken from the above website:

  • It is the 2nd most common cancer affecting women. 1
  • Each year, about 500,000 women worldwide are diagnosed with cervical cancer and more than 270,000 die from it. 1
  • Cervical cancer is caused by a common virus known as human papillomavirus (HPV).
  • Regardless of age, all females risk exposure to the HPV virus as it can spread via skin contact and sexual intercourse.3
  • Early sexual experience increases risk of cervical cancer. 4
  • Women who smoke are 2 times more at risk than non-smokers. 2
  • High number of pregnancies increases risk. 5
  • Usage of contraceptives is a factor of cervical cancer. 5
  • Sexually transmitted infections like Chlamydia, Herpes may cause cervical cancer. 2
  • Pap smear was introduced in 1943 to detect possible cancer causing cells in the cervix. 7
  • Pap smears can detect pre-cancerous and abnormal cells but it does not prevent the cause of abnormal cells and cervical cancer. 8
  • Regular Pap smear tests decreases a woman’s chances of developing cervical cancer by 5 times

If I'm not mistaken, know we can get the immunization for this virus. Please consult your gynae, I will..hehe..

Terkulai Cinta Internet

Hehehe..not me lah..its one of the news that caught my attention today.

The girls met their so-called BF on social network page like FB and friendster. Then met for a few times then straight 'TEKULAI'..alahai adik-adik..!!!

Seriously, are those men very power mengayat?? The result..what else?..PREGNANT. And then sent to Rumah Perlindungan..makin lama makin byk pulak rumah perlindungan...

I'm somewhat disturbed by this kind of news. I know its not new, maybe there's more to this case than this. Some may not get pregnant due to protection or just pure luck.

As a parent I'm worried!! I know my boy is just 18 months..but I can't helped it.

I mean this thing is not even a vehicle! --There's no plate number too.Its supposed to be a heavy machinery right? By right it shouldn't be on the road as the vehicle for its driver to drive to and fro from their workplace. Plus, it is totally not safe for them too. Perched on top of the machine which definitely not equipped with seat belt and sometimes not even a single safety helmet!

Maybe these are the new generation of iron man..

What's the Relation of Daun Semambu and Chicken Pox?

The last time when I got chicken pox which was 20 years ago (perghh dua dekad lamanya), I remembered my mom went to search for  'Daun Semambu'  (couldn't find the term in English)..and the easiest way to find it is usually in Indian household. The leaves would be used as pelapik tidur, soap and of course scratching instrument, hehehe..my sister used to play the 'Dayang' role when she used the leaf to scratch me..alala kipas gitu..

And since my boy had  chicken pox I tried looking for it, but  its too hard! And my housing area 90% of it are Malays..so mana nak tanam2 daun semambu ni kan..So my baby only took the prescription by the doctor. And I'm not sure about one thing, some say don't bathe the patient, is it true? I dah selamat mandikan Nazif berderu2 since day one he caught the disease.

Oh wait, still tak menjawap soalan dia atas..why the daun semambu?
According to this article, the leaves have anti bacterial and anti-carsinogenic characteristic which helps to reduce toxic in the bloodstream. And it got other benefits too which you can read more from the article.

Ohh..camtu rupanya..now I know...

PS: I just found out that he scientific name for this leave is Azadirachta Indica

Geek Mode : Have you ever Wonder?

I'm sure most of us watched the last episode of Nur Kasih last week.
Yeah, so far it is said as the highest rating drama for this year. In yesterday's paper TV3 said about 4.7 million people watched the last episode and about 1-2 million watched the re-runs.

So, the question that crossed my mind, how do they figure this out? TV broadcasting is different from the internet. For internet, we could count based on the number of IPs..

What else, Google lah !!
And it got me to this site HowStuffWorks.com.

And excerpt from the site:

Nielsen uses a technique called statistical sampling to rate the shows -- the same technique that pollsters use to predict the outcome of elections. Nielsen creates a "sample audience" and then counts how many in that audience view each program. Nielsen then extrapolates from the sample and estimates the number of viewers in the entire population watching the show. That's a simple way of explaining what is a complicated, extensive process. Nielsen relies mainly on information collected from TV set meters that it installs, and then combines this information with huge databases of the programs that appear on each TV station and cable channel.

I'm sure the tv station used almost the same method. You can basically search for anything that you need to know how other things work.

Toddler's Sex Education

Yearp..by right sex education should start early right? I know in our community S-E-X is still considered taboo..something that should not be discussed in open.

I can't recalled how my Mama used to educate me about sex education, I think I learned more when we were in secondary school. Tingkatan 3 , BAB 1 ..hehehe..

And yesterday, I received an email from BabyCenter.Com - Teaching your toddler about private parts. It certainly brings 'lampu' 'lampu' at my head..yess..that's something I should start to be concerned now. Looking at Nazif that is usually extra happy when we got his diaper off, running every where and looking pleased by showing off his private part..we have to teach him the right manner, kan. Now he's showing off, and we usually responded with..'Eiii..malu la Nazif nampak bird..'.later on he may started to ask me or his daddy..so we better get ready with appropriate answer..

Okay now from the article..

As parents, we can get anxious when children ask about anything remotely sexual. But your child's curiosity about genitals is no different than her questions about eyes, ears, feet, noses, and other less private parts. And genitals are pretty interesting, as body parts go. Her questions are only natural — after all, she has to learn about private parts from someone, and it's best for that someone to be you.

How should you respond? Be direct, and stay matter-of-fact. Follow the rule of thumb: "Is this how I would tell her about elbows or knees?" Give her the anatomically correct name for the body part ("vagina," "penis") and avoid baby talk — using funny or silly words will just confuse her and, if anything, makes the discussion a bigger deal. If she asks what they're for, you can say that genitals are for going to the bathroom. If you feel comfortable mentioning that they're also used for making babies, that's okay, too. She may not get it, but a child this age has no understanding of sex and won't make that connection.

So, we should start by calling the right name for that private part, got it Mr Daddy?

Wishing Well Programme

In the midst of Syawal month, where we were happily counting calories that goes into our tummy, there are still some lives that are counting their days in this world.

I stumbled upon this blog while bloghopping, and for the life of me, I can't stop crying when I read those entries about children with critical illness.

http://wishingwellprogramme.blogspot.com/

So, I would like to remind myself to be thankful for all the health that has been bestowed to me and family. The small illnesses that we got were nothing if compared to these children.

Staycation

I seriously have no idea on what to blog today, and of course yesterday..hehe..thus the lack of post.

So, being the bored me..I browse through the Merriam-Webster online dictionary..(hoho..I'm becoming more 'nerdy' every minute..)

And I came across this new word ( for me its new lah) :
Main Entry:
stay·ca·tion
Pronunciation
\ˈstā-ˈkā-shən\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
blend of stay and vacation
Date:
2005
: a vacation spent at home or nearby
— stay·ca·tion·er\stā-ˈkā-sh(ə-)nər\ noun

Emm..maybe I should put this as weekly post..a new word a week..not a day..
