My connected toddler

I believed I have jot down before about Nazif's obsession with Ultraman. He can be really absorbed when watching Ultraman on Youtube, and with that I decided to 'wean off' his Ultraman video session, which he referred to as 'Ultraman gerak..'So only still images that I allowed him to see on the Ipad.

But, other that Ultraman he's allowed to watch it. So now he came to me and asked me to find dinosaurs video, which he refers to as dinosaur gerak-gerak..So, this mummy pun says okla..as long as it is not ultraman.

But you know what..he eventually got himself to ultraman video! Now when I got to think of it..I see the relation now

DINOSAUR --> RAKSASA MONSTER --> ULTRAMAN (because Ultraman always fight against the monster)

Now..who is smarter now??

I'm being conned!!

Naqib Turns 9 Months

Alhamdullilah, my cheeky little boy turns 9 months today.

Reaching his 9 months milestones Naqib is able to:

1. Sit without support!
2. Still combat style crawling instead of on all fours. Sometimes he managed to lift his little bump but it has been twice he 'tersembam'!
3. Said 'mmama' (mummy), 'abah'(either daddy or abang), babbles 'tas, tas', 'nanak'..
4. Have been in separation anxiety phase. Can't simply leave him, the moment I stand up he would wailed!
5. Have been aware of people now. Sending him to school is not that easy because he would turn his body and grab me when he sees his babysitter (Usually happens on Monday).

In 3 months time, he'll turn 1 year! Gosh!

Choosing a Preschool

I think its really hard choosing a pre-school. When one have to many options, one became indecisive.

There are a few criteria of school in my list. Islamic, English and Malay medium. So around my housing area there are 5 kindies that fits these criteria.

A. Little Caliph
B. Genius Aulad
C. Sri Ayesha Islamic Montessori
D. Taski Abim - not sure whether its English medium
E. Child Islamic Centre (CIC)

But apart from that I have yet to see the school environment. Do you think I should be along my son, so that he can 'feel' which kindy he likes most?

So, I really welcome any feedback from you all.

Why Mummy Needs to Know Marmet Technique

That's because my faithful FS backfired on me yesterday..not the machine though. Its the soft fit breastshield. It got hole in it, resulting in less suction power. I had to manually expressed the milk just to avoid being so engorged..shish..I can't believe I actually wrote this. But the result was incomparable to using the machine itself because of lack of skills.

So, kesimpulannya, we have to learn the Marmet Technique. In case for emergency when your breast pump is not around, this skill comes in handy.

Ops, back to my malfunctioned breastshield. Luckily, my FS came with spare breastshields, but not the soft fit type. But the unlucky thing was, the spare parts were at my parent's home!! Uwaa..stress..stress..

But then, I AM SO LUCKY again cause my BELOVED SISTER had willing-fully came down all the way from Sban to send me the spare parts! Love you loads ! Muahs..and my mom too!

Random Monday

We had an early weekend, due to Naqib not being well. He was down with fever, my guess its because of his jab a few days back. And then, Mummy too was not very well with running nose and cough. *Sigh*..

Oh well, on the other hand, Nazif turned 34 months yesterday..I think I'll stop writing monthly basis about him..the updates could be anytime he reached the milestones or when something new came out. For now, he still poop in the diapers..Mummy still takleh nak saikokan dia poopo kat toilet..

This is the usual conversation we had whenever he said he wanted to go to 'sekolah'

Nazif      : Mummy Ajip nak pegi sekolah besar... ( sekolah besar for Nazif is the kindergarten..)
Mummy  : Boleh...tapi Nazif kena u-uk kat toilet tau kalo nak pegi sekolah..
Nazif      : Macam Abg Azeem , Kakak Alysa kan? Kan? U-uk toilet kan.. ( his cousins)
Mummy : Ye..mcm Abg Azeem , mcm Kakak Alysa..nnt kat school sapa nak pakaikan pampers? Kan? Kan?
Nazif     : Yee..Ajif u-uk kat toilet kan?
Mummy : Ye..kita u-uk toiletlah lps ni kan..ok? Tadi kan Nazif u-uk pakai pampers?
Nazif     :  Mana ada!! ( Dgn muka tak bersalah..seriously..)

Smart Parents Richer Kids

Currently I'm hooked on this book..

After reading three chapters, I've realized some of the steps and methods that are mentioned in the book are the ones that I have been through during my growing up years.

For example, my sister and I got rewarded with our dream toys when we achieved good result ( being top 3 in the class). At that time, having a barbie doll was my dream, and yes I got it. But to accessorized the barbie dolls with beautiful clothes did not come into the package. So, we saved our pocket money to get them or we made them from our unused clothes.

We also took great care of our things like watches and school bags because my father sort of imposed the expiry date for those things , well based on his experience. During his time, he used his school bag for six years..so expected us to do the same. Well, for me during my primary time, I remembered using one bag from std 2 until std 6!

So now as parents, I really hope I could follow the same steps that I have been through before. Yes, I admit, looking at children clothes and toys could left me salivating..yeah, me not them! So, its my mind that I need to strengthen with.

My Breastfeeding Journey

I don't think I've ever shared my Breastfeeding story in details after I delivered. Well, that's because I didn't consider myself 'successful' in this journey.

Yeah, I didn't get to BF my son exclusively for the past 6 months. I only managed to exclusive breast feed him for only 16 days. After that, I have to top up with formula, until now. The feeling, at first I was devastated. My son was admitted for jaundice at the hospital and he lost more than 10% of his weight and his weight at that time was 2.31 kg while his birth weight was 2.7 kg! Of course the doctor was alarmed!

Since I was not rooming in with him, I had to send my milk supply. My pumping only produced 0.5 oz and at most 1 oz for one session. Which definitely is not enough for my son. Fortunately, my sister had some  of her  frozen milk left at my mom's, so I topped with that too. When the supply no longer can keep up with demand, the hospital gave him formula.

Even after he was released I tried my best to limit his formula intake, which is to regularly direct feed him. But sadly, it was not enough for him. And to not grant him with formula was not an option because I need to get him to gain back his weight. I was so obsessed with his weight that I'm willing to do anything to achieve that, which to give him formula. I tried to make stocks for after confinement, which I only managed to make around 40 bekas dadih (2-2.5 oz each). And in just a few days, all had been used up.

Until today, I still pumped at the office, 3 times and only sometimes 2 times. The total milk produced usually ranges from 6 to 8 oz. So sikit kan? But for me, ALHAMDULILAH. Whatever being pumped, I will sent to the nursery next day along with formula milk. At least for me, this time around I was much better than during Nazif's time.

Tell me what I didn't do to increase my milk. Pegaga, sawi, lobak putih, longan, dates, Shaklee breastfeeding set, regular pumping, regular feeding, you name it. I've tried them. I tried not to stress too much, fearing stress would further reduced my milk production. So I just let it be just as it is..I can just pray. So yeah, breast feeding is not that sap-sap soi, au naturel..it is a learning process and for those who are mentally strong. I admit, I am not that strong..

* This is all because my longan drink turn sour this morning because I forgot to put them in fridge*

Nazif and Potty Training Story #2

Another memorable moment that I wish to jot down for my own keepsake..hehe..another funny moment I might say..

Before this, we only potty trained him during weekend and if weekdays, it was after we picked him up from the nursery. But starting last Tuesday, it seems the nursery has already trained him too...this I only realized after the incident.

As usual, when we arrived ( Mummy and the children), I would take out their bags and the children one after another..have to unload one by one..Nazif usually can 'unload' himself..hehe..

Ok, that day, while I was unloading adik Naqib from the car, I heard Nazif cried. Oh, what's the matter? Did he fell down? Knocked himself or can't reach his toys? That's among things that can make him cried. So, I went into the house and saw him standing beside his bike, crying buckets. I looked further down, and saw...

..
..
..
...
..
..

A puddle of pee!!!!
..

Hahahaha....tak jadik nak marah ok? He must be very 'geli' to have been crying like that! So I quickly put down Naqib and started to clean up the mess and telling him its ok..Mummy will clean the pee..I really hope he learned his lesson..so I say to him, next time you want to pee, what do you say??

Mummy, nak shi shi toilet!!

PS : Before in the car he kept asking me to change his pants. Could this be the sign too??

Nazif and Potty Training Story

Nazif is considered halfway through his potty training. It looks like he's the one who is more ready than his parents are..hehe..it started a few weeks ago, when husband was away.

Firstly he refused to wear his diapers. Usually he will quickly put on his pants when we say jom pakai diaper..

So okayla..terpaksala atur time to take him to toilet for pee. When I took him to the toilet, at first nothing came out. But after a few attempts, he did it! Wah..wah..he was overjoyed..*time tu muka vangga tak hingat when beramai-amai applaude him*. Siap cakap "Ajip cincing..ajip cincing.."

And I have one time that was really funny when I think back. I was getting ready for Asar prayer at that time, my sister was occupying the toilet, and Nazif was playing in the same room as I am. So okla I asked him, do you want to shi-shi? Nope..okla..start le solat..But then half-way, I heard like bunyi meneran *kusyuk dah ke mana hala* and dah gelabah.. terus stop. Turned around and there he was, at his signature pose for the big business! Wah..Mak dah terlompat bukak telekung and screamed for my sister who was in the bathroom! I panic you!

"Ayni cepat! Nazif dah nak berak! "
"Nazif wait..jom gi toilet" --you should see his face terkejut badak tgk Mummy kelam kabut..

But him agaknya terkejut tgk Mummy sebegitu rupa, terus
" Nak yak pempers..nak yak pempers"..dgn rupa nak nangis..hahaha..

So, put on his diapers..But guess what! I think due to terkejut, terus terbantut nak buat big business..all thanks to Mummy yg panic!

My Patience is Running Thin

My baby Naqib is still with his odd sleep pattern, which leaves me totally bonked out and tired every night. Oh and hubby too.Had tried every possible way to put him to sleep, Nursing down, rocking and walking down, nestling down.Well he did fall asleep after sometime but he did not stay asleep for long.  Sometimes I even snapped at him..and dear how guilty that made me feel in the morning.

I don't think I have this kind of experience during Nazif. As far as I remember, Nazif has never been difficult to sleep at night, well except when he was unwell.

What a Day!

Its still morning and yet I am already lethargic.

The day started with lack of sleep. Again baby Naqib decided to stay up until 4.00 a.m this morning. Not really stay up, he already slept last night around 10.00 p.m but he woke up around 1.30 a.m. So this morning I woke up feeling heavy headed.

Then, the traffic were not that merciful. Had terrible traffic jam inside Bangi and all the way until highway heading to Putrajaya.

Sleepy + Heavy Head + Traffic Jam is really not a great combo to start your morning with.

How Do You Get Rid Of...

Your child's clothes that are not wearable? Like mine, I have tonnes of baby clothes that are stained with 'tahi lalat' especially baby Naqib's clothes --due to his constant vomiting and salivating. To give them away, is a big No-No.. nak memberi harusla yg elok, kan?

Or can those kind of stain be removed? If yes, please give me the solution other than clorox, hehe..I don't want everything to turn into white.

But the stain parts are usually the baby top and the pants are in good condition. So do you dispose both of them or just the top part?

To simply keep them, humm..I need bigger space. But then its not wearable, so I don't want to be a hoarder, keeping unnecessary things!

Sleepless in Bangi

I don't know what seems to be the problem, but Adik hardly sleeps last night. But most probably it was due to wind..this baby of mine is prone to colic lah..not like his brother.

I had my shift from last night until 4.30 am. Tried  every possible position nursing him and cuddling him. Then, when I can't take it anymore, I had to pass him to hubby.  And he took the shift until 7.15 am when he FINALLY SLEEP!

You see, lack of sleep could turn ME into one cranky mummy. And now I had one throbbing headache due to the lack of sleep.

Oh adik! You really tested mummy and daddy's patience last night. Serius, semlm sampai satu tahap  nak tutup je mulut adik..sbb tu Daddy kena take over..I thought your big brother was difficult last time, but compared to you, you win dear!

Ya Allah, permudahkan urusan ku membesarkan anak-anakku dan tingkatlah kesabaran ku..AMIN.

Back In The Office

At last, I'm back to the office yesterday. Its quite chaos in the morning..hehe..biasala..not yet used to the new routine. Altho last week we already had kinda drill activities to simulate the day last week, but then children will always be children. They are unpredictable!

Yesterday for example, I had just finished my subuh prayer, and the baby already woke up. I had to feed him first. This morning, I managed to pray, bathe, wear my clothes and started to pump, then the baby woke up..kena jugak feed him while pumping. Luckily this morning abang was all sunshine, he did not cry when we arrived at the nursery, unlike yesterday. The moment we turn on the usual route, he already started wailing 'Nanak tool ( Tak nak skool), Nak ikut Mummy!!'

And yesterday, I finished the day with my body aching all over..adeh..adeh..I really wish for a nice, hot body masssage...well its all part and parcel of being FTWM, right? So, we'll slowly adapt lah..

Naqib Turns 2 Months

Time is like a lightning..travelling so fast. For all I know, Naqib is TWO months today!!

Naqib easily smiles now especially when he's full. And he already started to coo and aah..so cute..it felt like ions ago Nazif was this small..and now we have another person to remind me of babies. But he still easily spilled his milk after each feeding, which is why we have to 'handle with care' after each feeding, be it bottle feed or breastfeed. Nazif wasn't like him at all..so its definitely true each child IS different!!

I actually have finished my maternity leave, but decided to extend them till end of this week. But the kids, I have already sent them to the nursery for 'warming up' session. So far so good Alhamdullilah.

Mother of Two

How am I doing with the new title?

Hectic I tell you!! Another demanding baby is on the house..hehe..feeding aroung the clock with mummy's milk and also formula..yeah pity me for not being able to exclusively BF Naqib. He's lost so much weight when he got his jaundice..from 2.71kg to 2.35kg..and paed advice me  to top up with formula ASAP. and alhamdullilah he now weigh 3.3 kg..still small for his age which he should at least be 4 kg..huhu..so kesian..everyone thought he's a premie..but small he maybe but his crying waaaa...siksa jiwa raga..loud i tell you..

As for big bro, he's like a photocopy machine and parrot..yg x best, i don't know from where he got the bad attitude like jelir lidah...and he got fast hand too..tampar orang to attract attention..but in talking department..adoila...very geram..in cute ways..sometimes I wonder if he's a three year old kid..cakap mcm org tua..and sometimes acted like one too..Oh..his stubbornness always tested everyone's patience too which results him having his timeout almost everyday. even rotan too..
