The last time when I got chicken pox which was 20 years ago (perghh dua dekad lamanya), I remembered my mom went to search for 'Daun Semambu' (couldn't find the term in English)..and the easiest way to find it is usually in Indian household. The leaves would be used as pelapik tidur, soap and of course scratching instrument, hehehe..my sister used to play the 'Dayang' role when she used the leaf to scratch me..alala kipas gitu..
And since my boy had chicken pox I tried looking for it, but its too hard! And my housing area 90% of it are Malays..so mana nak tanam2 daun semambu ni kan..So my baby only took the prescription by the doctor. And I'm not sure about one thing, some say don't bathe the patient, is it true? I dah selamat mandikan Nazif berderu2 since day one he caught the disease.

PS: I just found out that he scientific name for this leave is Azadirachta Indica

bleh mandi la... shaf ingat masa kecik2 dulu..my mom rendamkan daun semambu dalam timba, pastu shaf mandi dgn air tersebut..sangat sejuk..masa 2nd year kat MMU pun, shaf mandi gak..kalau tak mandi..peluh2 lagi gatai..plus panas badan tak hilang la kan
haaa i pun tak sure sebenarnya pasal daun ni before baca ur entry ni, but one thing for sure memang akan lapik kat tempat tidur masa kena campak. and kalau gatal bole "garu" guna daun ni.

Hubby ckp, just go to kuil2 yg agak besar and ask for the daun bambu..kasi lah upah 2-3 hinggit..plus, jgn amik sendiri..mintak elok2 suruh diorang amik..ckp nak buat ubat demam...sure dia kasik.. :)

daun semambu - margosa kot the other name for it. but widely used in indian ayurvedic meds. even angin yg lalu kat pokok dia pun they say has healing effects!

Dulu masa daddy kena chicken pox tok mak Nazif sapu daun semambu yg ditumbuk lumat ke seluruh badan..so seminggu jugak lah daddy jadi macam anak incredible hulk...hehe.
